Introducing the Autel MaxiSYS Ultra S2 Diagnostics Tablet

Taking Automotive Intelligence to the Next Level

The MaxiSYS Ultra S2 advanced diagnostic tablet is the next generation of the highly successful Ultra advanced diagnostic tablet featuring improved hardware and comprehensive OE-level diagnostic capabilities for U.S., Asian, and European automaker lines.

Diagnostics innovation is at the heart of every Autel product, and the Ultra S2 is the realization of the brand’s commitment to giving its user technicians the most powerful yet intuitive diagnostic solutions in the industry. That’s why, before developing the Ultra S2, Autel asked its users for feedback on improving the current tablet.

Enhanced in-system and multi-systems data analysis, as well as additional diagnostic aids for today’s vehicles with increasingly complex electrical systems, were most needed, users said. Autel’s software engineers listed and developed numerous efficiency and accuracy-conscious innovations. Let’s take a look:

Next Level “Work Smarter, Not Harder” Diagnostics

Module Topology, version 3provides a detailed module and communication network map with module-fault status with a new “ping” module function to verify communication, isolate network faults, and qualify data round-trip time (RTT) and packet loss. Another Topology 3 innovation is a split-screen network and module location representation that allows the users to tap a module within the network and see the location of that component on a dynamic vehicle graphic (a nice function for when the automaker places a module in an uncommon spot).

Live Data Fusion, Multi-System Analysis, and Oscilloscope Integration: Extensive Live Data Fusion coverage, including Chrysler, Dodge, JEEP, Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, VW, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Toyota, Scion, Lexus, Subaru, Ford, Land Rover, and Jaguar. The feature lets technicians view live data outputs from multiple control modules simultaneously, create customizable PID lists, and save PID groupings for future reference.

  • Parameter Grouping: Multi-PID selection for analyzing related parameters simultaneously
  • MaxiScope Integration: Offers split-screen functionality, allowing technicians to operate the 4-channel oscilloscope while viewing DTCs.

Service Opportunities and Workflow Efficiencies

Multi-Point Digital Inspection Application

A comprehensive digital inspection platform that allows technicians to document vehicle conditions, record damage, input component wear data, and generate service recommendations featuring an AI-powered image analysis for autodetection of dents and scratches. Plus, pair with Autel TBE200 Tire Tread Examiner and ITS600 TPMS tool for detailed tire analysis.

Comprehensive Service and Reset Menu

Featuring 48+ maintenance, resets, and service tasks with direct access to service and reset functions (vehicle-specific) with guided instructions.

Industry-Leading Security Gateway Access: “Increasingly, automakers are securing critical vehicle systems behind gateway modules. We have prioritized getting our tablets authorized to access these systems and enabling our technicians to service the vehicles they need to. Autel has consistently led the aftermarket in getting this functionality to our products and technicians,” said Maurice Miller,  Autel Vice President of Customer Success.

To enable our users to realize the full potential of our tools’ diagnostic and servicing capabilities, Autel has implemented two gateway access strategies. For Stellantis, Nissan, and Mercedes-Benz vehicles, users must register their shop and Autel tablet with Auto Authentication Authority (AutoAuth). For Volkswagen/Audi, Autel negotiated with the Volkswagen/Audi Group to allow SGW access to its diagnostics and service tablets. Users can purchase single VW/Audi VIN/24-hour sessions or unlimited VINs/full-year access plans.

One Solution to Finish Every Repair:

Remote Expert: With its advanced tablets, Autel is determined to provide its users with a comprehensive solution enabling technicians to finish every part of the vehicle repair; that’s why Autel developed the Report Expert platform about three years ago. Right from their tablet, Ultra series and Ultra S2 users can place orders for module programming, ADAS calibrations, and OE pre- and post-scans, among other OE-tool or software-required tasks, with a vetted expert. This “Remote Expert,” with the required OE tools and expertise, can then remotely “dial in” to the technician’s VCMI2 and perform the needed task. The shop can make payment via the tablet or the technician’s cell phone and Remote Expert app. Remote Expert streamlines complex repairs and calibrations and eliminates shops needing to sublet work or purchase OE software and data subscriptions.  Autel’s Remote Expert service offers extensive coverage, supporting 41 vehicle brands and 11 protocols, including DoIP. It features over 100 verified experts who are insured and experienced. The service handles around 4,000 orders each month.

Ultra S2 Hardware Upgrades:

The system’s upgraded hardware components bolster all of the software advances:

  • A faster 2.7 GHz octa-core processor enables quicker all-systems scans and rapid di-directional testing, which is especially beneficial when diagnosing sophisticated late-model vehicles with complicated electrical systems using upwards of 80 modules and multi-protocol communication networks.
  • 512 GB of storage: double the memory of the previous model, enabling highly effective vehicle software management.
  • Wi-Fi 6 supports faster updates and data transfer.
  • A larger, anti-glare display with split-screen capabilities is perfect for live data analysis and oscilloscope analysis.
  • A new, lighter, and more streamlined six-function VCMI2 (Vehicle Communication and Measurement Interface) combines wireless communication, J2534 pass-through programming, a 4-channel oscilloscope, a graphing multimeter, a waveform generator, a CAN-Bus tester, and a standalone Remote Expert device. The VCMI2 also supports CAN FD, 4 CAN Channel, D-PDU, IS O22900-1 & ISO 22900-2 protocols.
  • Autel-logoed, zippered case for quick access to and secure storage of oscilloscope accessories
  • An improved Docking station with fast charging capability

The Ultra S2 establishes a new standard in performance for automotive diagnostic tools, marking a significant advancement in capabilities. It exemplifies Autel’s dedication to ongoing innovation, which empowers users to effectively address the challenges of repairing increasingly complex vehicles and running successful businesses.
